SALT Art + Culture was first conceived in Manhattan in 2015.
SALT is the common element of blood, sweat + tears, the artist’s greatest tool. It is what separates those who dream from those who do. SALT is not art history or criticism, it is the present - here and now - what is new and what is next.
The goal is simple: to share what we (and by we, I mean I) enjoy and think you might as well. This is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to all events but a curated take on our top three each week. Perfect for those of us who want a handy, mobile-friendly guide on the go. Most events are free or cheap and focused on Bay Area art and artists.
Who am I and Does it matter?!
Like you, I appreciate art and the greater SF arts community, but I’ve done a few cool things along the way.
I curated pop-ups before pop-ups were cool (SF+NYC)
I accidentally started an art gallery in San Francisco that lasted only two years before the economy went bust.
I moved to Manhattan with $11 and stayed with my cousin in her smoke-filled studio apt. until I finally landed my dream job managing a private art collection.
I helped build collections at museums around the country as a tax strategy for the collection, though most people won’t know me by name or will never have seen my face.
I’ve worked with some important and expensive works of art and many of the top galleries and auction houses in New York.
I collect art from studios and galleries and can barely walk through my apartment without stepping on a piece of art (or an animal, I have five!). Sorry, but I thought you should know…
