Johansson Projects presents Better Dey Come, a solo exhibition by Nimah Gobir. Combining painting, photo transfer, fabric, and embroidery, Gobir blends memories across time and geography by drawing inspiration from her Nigerian heritage and upbringing in California.

Lenka Clayton’s exhibition The Past continues her interest in depicting the everyday through drawing. The images are made with a 1957 Smith Corona typewriter. Clayton’s acclaimed work involves daily situations, extending the familiar into the poetic and the absurd.
In the exhibition Between Worlds, Katherine Vetne shows still life in a new way, focusing on unreality and separation. Her detailed metal point drawings on chalk panels show fancy dishes and vases as if they are strange or from another world. What was once familiar now feels odd.
Nanci Amaka’s video work lives in the space between looking, seeing, and knowing. Her performances explore the concept of being a spiritual being living in the present moment while laden with memories and future imaginaries.
Catherine Clark and BOXBLUR present a night of chamber music performed by the San Francisco Opera Orchestra inspired by the three solo exhibitions on view.
