Far Out brings together historical and contemporary works highlighting the radical and progressive ethos of Northern California artists. Exploring artistic practices and communities formed in Northern California since the 1960s, the collected works show that artists working far from mainstream art worlds in New York and Los Angeles have long been progressive forces for material experimentation, creative dissent against authority, and innovation apart from art historical traditions.
