INTERMedio: A Solo Exhibition by Luis Felipe Chavez

  • Jonathan Carver Moore 966 Market Street San Francisco, CA, 94102 United States (map)

COMING SOON to Jonathan Carver Moore, INTERMedio, a solo exhibition by Luis Felipe Chávez.

Raised in a small town in west-central Mexico, Chávez emigrated to the United States in 2020, settling in San Francisco. His work blurs the lines between his native and adopted homes, exploring how two seemingly different worlds converge to shape his identity.

Through oil paintings that appear at first like photo collages, Chávez collapses borders—physically, ideologically, and emotionally—creating what he calls an “interim space.” For Chávez, these intersections are “places where I find a connection within my history, celebrating differences and a declaration of migratory resilience.” His paintings become a love letter to migration, resisting erasure and honoring the beauty of cultures in dialogue.

In a time of heightened xenophobia, Chávez turns to art as a love letter to migration and cultural connection—embracing the INTERMedio as a space of pride, visibility, and celebration.

INTERMedio will be on view at Jonathan Carver Moore from August 28 through September 27. We look forward to welcoming you all on Thursday, September 4, from 5:30–7:30 PM for the opening reception and celebration.
