Please Don't Slow Me Down

  • Little Boxes Theater SF 94107 1661 Tennessee Street San Francisco, CA, 94107 United States (map)

Please Don't Slow Me Down -- a world premiere play by Melina Cohen-Bramwell, directed by Lana Richards.

Oct 30 - Nov 8: Little Boxes Theater SF (1661 Tennessee Street)
Nov 14 - 15 : The Space 1308 (1308 Broadway, Oakland)

Doors 7pm | Music @ 7:30 | Play @ 8:15

Local bands will open for the play in a DIY house-show-meets-blackbox-theatre experience that blends different mediums of art and performance. It’s for people who love to dance, who love live music, love live theatre, or who maybe have never seen a play before. Its surreal setting in a rave and its bookending performances of punk bands, vocalists, and DJs will give the whole experience an ephemeral nature.

The play itself is a dark comedy that dives into themes of mental illness, loneliness, and artistic expression. It follows a bipolar, Bay-Area-born protagonist -- and Mania herself, the physical embodiment of his cyclical moods --are having one last, manic hurrah.

Musical Performers include Jas Stade, Tristan Marcelle, DJ Kelleyjane, The Secretary, Fatale, Mabuhay Gardens, Carlie Mari, and more.

The Cast and creative team features Dom Refuerzo (SFBATCO's Cuckoo Edible Magic), Ling Ling Lee (We Players' Macbeth), Elenor Irene Paul (Oasis Arts Jurassiq Parq), Myles Bell (Oakland Theatre Project's Hamlet), Michelle Zheng, and Peter Malmquist with Sound Design by prolific Bay Area Sound Designer Michael Kelly (SFBATCC winner), and Lighting by Riley Richardson (Berkeley Rep, Shotgun, Playground, UC Berkeley).

This event is a beautiful coalescence of the Bay's many underground arts scenes; we're so excited for audiences to experience it!
