May 20 - June 20, 2026
A Group Exhibition Celebrating Artists from the Asian Diaspora with Maya Fuji, Nibha Akireddy, Shingo Yamazaki, and Justin Yoon.
For the past couple of months, Nibha Akireddy (@nibhaakireddy) has served as the gallery’s sixth Artist-in-Residence.
Bay Area–raised and San Francisco-based, Akireddy creates vivid, maximalist paintings that layer color, light, and motifs drawn from tattooing, sport, textiles, jewelry, food, and popular media. Her practice reframes overlooked everyday art forms as powerful tools for storytelling—shifting conversations around cultural ownership and appropriation toward ones of fluidity and exchange, rooted in South Asian traditions and communal histories.
During her residency, Akireddy collaborated with the gallery at Root Division’s (@rootdivision) 24th Annual Art Auction and represented Jonathan Carver Moore at Expo Chicago 2025, where her series Subtle Bodies was on view alongside the work of Mary Graham (@mary.graham.art).
This week, works created during her residency will be on view in Tender Forms: A Group Exhibition Celebrating Artists from the Asian Diaspora, opening May 20 at Jonathan Carver Moore (@jonathancarvermoore), alongside Maya Fuji (@fuji1kenobe), Shingo Yamazaki (@shinnyzak), and Justin Yoon (@jyoonny).
