Presented by Zaccho Dance Theatre and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Bronx Revolution and the Birth of Hip Hop is an electrifying stage performance that brings the origins of Hip Hop to life through a fusion of dance, storytelling, visual arts and live DJing.
Featuring legendary pioneers Grandmaster Caz, GrandWizzard Theodore, MC SHA-ROCK, Graffiti Artist BG183, BGirl Rokafella, BBoy Kwikstep, a powerful pre-recorded video performance from Grandmaster Melle Mel, and archival photography by Joe Conzo, Jr., the evening is a rare chance to see icons of Hip Hop take the stage in the Bay Area. Combining breakdancing, beatboxing, graffiti artistry, and spoken word, this is an experience so immersive that you’ll feel like you’re in the Bronx in 1973 when it all began.
Join us for a vibrant, authentic, and energetic evening, where the past, present, and future of Hip Hop come together for an unforgettable event.
