Wino Miracle

  • 5 Olive Gallery 5 Olive Street San Francisco, CA 94109 (map)

This coming week is the first Thursday of the month and we will be participating in the Tenderloin's First Thursday Art Walk during which 5 Olive Gallery will host our first show of the year entitled "Wino Miracle."

Wino Miracle — or “Why No Miracle?” explores the strange, wondrous moments conjured by someone in a constant state of awe. The show features four SF-based artists who work with layered perception, uncanny play, and crowded visual storytelling. Sometimes real, sometimes only perceived, these small miracles blur thresholds between humor, devotion, and disquiet.

Featured artists include:

Tim Cohen: Collaged paintings that are simultaneously juvenile and complex, Cohen creates worlds that are inhabited by athletes, animals, and spirits, among others.

Grace Cooper: Quietly unsettling drawings of figures often consumed by or communing with a strange undersea world.

Felix Dina: Collages that are dense and feature surreal juxtapositions.

Tara Gonzalez: Paintings that riff on religion and pop culture that are equal parts reverent and ironic.

Opening Thursday, March 5th (6-10pm), Special musical performance night on Friday, March 27th (details TBA)
