Harman Projects and Toyroom Gallery are pleased to present FRACTURED, a solo exhibition by Shepard Fairey.
Opens June 14th
Join us this Summer inside San Francisco's Minnesota Street Project as we present an eclectic survey of works spanning the legendary artist's storied career.
To celebrate, we'll be joined by notable arts critic and writer Carlo McCormick who will host an in-person conversation with the artist in advance of the exhibition opening.
Join us Saturday, June 14th for the opening night reception and artist talk. An exhibition-exclusive screen print (pictured) will be available for in-person purchase at the gallery with an online release to follow.
The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, July 26th 2025.
Here's what the artist has to say about this new exhibition:
The title of this show, "Fractured,” reflects not only the current state of our culture and sociopolitical dialogue, but also the theme of duality that I explore in much of my work. This body of work explores the fractured nature of humanity and modern life, and also the beauty found in the fractures such as the rips and tears of layered works on the street. These imperfections symbolize depth, transformation, and the unexpected beauty of a new creation poetically resulting from a destructive act of transgression. The often-clashing elements in my imagery highlight the yin and yang of exquisite fragility and wholeness—much like our Earth, which is both beautiful and marked by scars and fractures. The recurrent use of rips as a motif in the work reflect the chaos of the streets where much of my art has lived and died, but also provides a metaphor for the competitive and frenetic nature of a fractured world.

Every year, SFCB selects two to three artists to create a special edition of artists' books — each just 4 x 4 inches and limited to 100 copies. We provide workspace, studio access, technical support, and a materials stipend to help bring each project to life.
Since the program launched in 2008, more than 40 editions have been created. This year, SFCB is excited to be working with artists Paul Oh (Rascally Sophist Press) and Nick Shick on their editions. SFCB Studio Director Chad Johnson says of this year’s program: “SFCB’s Imprint Committee is excited to announce two new editions from our annual Small Plates series. Without revealing too many details, this year’s books by Paul Oh and Nick Shick include plenty of planning, letterpress printing, and soul. We can't wait for you to see them!”
Reception 6 - 8 pm; artist remarks begin at 6:30 pm.
