SF Art Events: Week of 08.31.25
THING ONE: Alonzo King LINES Ballet x Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors
Saturday, September 6, 2025
12 pm - 4pm
For one day only, experience Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors in a whole new way as dancers from San Francisco’s world-renowned Alonzo King LINES Ballet perform live in conversation with the video installation.
The Visitors transports viewers to a distinct, immersive setting, where they become witnesses to the artistic process as both a singular and collective experience. In this special pop-up performance staged alongside the work, the artists of LINES Ballet complement, respond to, and expand upon the on-screen experience through choreography performed between the video projections that provides a living expression of the creative process.
Please note: There will be three to four dancers in The Visitors at most times during this program. The Visitors gallery may reach capacity at times during these performances. If you would prefer to experience The Visitors without an in-gallery dance on this day, please visit between 10:15 a.m.–noon or 4–4:45 p.m.

Thing Two: About Time: Lynn Hershman Leeson
September 6 – October 11, 2025
Reception: Saturday, September 6, 6-8 pm
A radical and visionary artist, Hershman Leeson has challenged conventional definitions of art for over six decades, consistently shredding the boundaries of technology, identity, and psychology. At the center of Hershman Leeson's latest exhibition is an antibody engineered to reverse aging. Developed by Hershman Leeson in collaboration with Dr. Tomas Huber and a private pharmaceutical laboratory in China, the serum serves to reverse aging one day at a time, with each administration. The genetic makeup of this protein-based antigen has now been adopted by the lab Hershman Leeson contracted for the project, and is currently being offered commercially throughout Asia as an antidote to aging. As with previous bodies of work, Hershman Leeson has preempted foundational advancements in technology that go on to become ubiquitous facets of everyday life.
